Project Overview

Ziman Agency supported a multilingual medical user interface localization and linguistic quality assurance project covering five regional languages: Kurdish (Sorani, Badini & Kurmanji), Arabic (Iraq), Turkish, Hebrew, and Persian (Iran).

The engagement went beyond conventional translation review. Our team systematically evaluated localized medical UI screens, identified linguistic and visual localization issues, documented each valid issue through a structured bug-reporting process, and provided corrected translations ready for implementation.

Over the course of one month, seven language reviewers and two project managers worked together to maintain terminology accuracy, UI consistency, language-specific presentation standards, and a controlled QA process across all five language streams.

The Challenge

Medical interfaces require a particularly high level of linguistic precision. A translation can be grammatically correct while still being unsuitable for a medical interface, inconsistent with established terminology, too long for the available UI space, or displayed incorrectly once implemented.

The project therefore required our reviewers to evaluate both the linguistic quality of the translation and the way localized content appeared inside the actual interface.

Structured Bug Reporting

Every localized screenshot was reviewed individually against its corresponding English source screen.

When an issue was identified, the reviewer recorded the problem using a standardized localization bug-reporting framework.

Un-localized
Content remained untranslated in the target-language interface.
Wrong Translation
The localized content was incorrect, incomplete, or unsuitable for the source context.
Grammar / Spelling
Grammatical or spelling problems were present in the target language.
Inconsistency
Recurring terminology or UI content was translated differently across the interface.
Punctuation
Punctuation did not follow the appropriate target-language conventions.
Improvement
The translation was understandable but required greater clarity, naturalness, or contextual suitability.
Wrong Line Break / Truncation
Localized content did not fit or display correctly within the UI.
Visual Localization
Overlap, misalignment, font size, spacing, or directional issues affected presentation.

Each valid issue could include the relevant bug type, severity, corrected translation, original translation, English source text, and reviewer comments , giving the development or implementation team clear and actionable information.

Severity-Based QA

Issues were assessed according to their potential impact on understanding, usability, and release quality.

Minor
Small inconsistencies, punctuation issues, alignment concerns, or presentation improvements that did not significantly affect user understanding.
Major
Problems that could mislead users or materially reduce product quality, including untranslated content, incorrect translations, and serious linguistic errors.
Critical
Issues considered unacceptable for release or capable of seriously affecting understanding of the medical interface.
Prioritized Correction
Severity classification helped the implementation team address higher-impact localization issues first.

Five Languages, Different UI Requirements

Managing five language streams within the same medical UI introduced different linguistic, script, and presentation requirements.

Kurdish (Sorani), Arabic (Iraq), Hebrew, and Persian (Iran) required careful review of right-to-left presentation, including text direction, alignment, punctuation, spacing, and interaction between translated text, numbers, icons, and other UI elements.

Kurdish (Badini & Kurmanji) required language-specific linguistic and visual review according to the script and presentation used in the relevant localized interface.

Turkish, as a left-to-right language, required a different visual QA approach while maintaining the same terminology, linguistic, contextual, and functional quality standards.

Instead of applying one generic QA process to every language, reviewers evaluated each interface according to the linguistic and technical characteristics of the relevant language and variety.

Our Workflow

The project was coordinated through a controlled multilingual QA process designed to maintain consistency across all language streams.

  • 1. Screenshot Review: Reviewers compared each localized interface with the corresponding English source screen.
  • 2. Linguistic Verification: Translations were checked for meaning, terminology, grammar, spelling, and contextual accuracy.
  • 3. UI & Localization Testing: Reviewers checked directionality, alignment, spacing, truncation, line breaks, overlap, fonts, and other visual display issues.
  • 4. Bug Classification: Each identified problem was assigned the appropriate bug category.
  • 5. Severity Assessment: Valid issues were assessed according to their impact on product quality and user understanding.
  • 6. Corrected Translation: Reviewers provided the complete corrected target-language translation instead of only describing the issue.
  • 7. Reviewer Comments: Clear comments were included whenever the development or implementation team required additional context.
  • 8. Project Management & QA Coordination: Two project managers coordinated reviewer assignments, consistency checks, progress, communication, and final delivery.
